DIGIVESTASI - President Joko Widodo's administration believes the results of the first round of the presidential election (Pill Press) announced by the General Elections Commission (KPU) will have a positive impact on the domestic investment climate. In this one presidential election, the presidential and vice presidential candidate pair Prabowo Subianto-Gibran Rakabumin Raka received the most votes, exceeding 50% or 58.58%, equivalent to 96,214,691 valid votes. The KPU made the decision after the valid votes were obtained.

Airlangga Hartarto, Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs and Chairman of the Steering Committee of Prabowo Gibran's National Election Team (TKN), said that so far not a single investor has been affected by the development of the country's presidential election, even persistent.

"Investment is still going on because investors continue to show interest in various conferences abroad and the presidential election will not affect that," Airlangga said in a meeting at his office on Monday (March 25, 2024).
On the other hand, many economists believe that a one-off election is good for investment. Investment, especially foreign investment, will slowly recover despite being constrained by a wait-and-see attitude awaiting the results of the 2024 presidential election.

Josua Pardede, chief economist at Permata Bank, said on Friday (March 22, 2024): ``We expect political uncertainty is likely to be significantly reduced by the single-vote parliamentary election.'' he said.

Even if other candidates challenge the results of the presidential election, the Permata Bank chief economist believes the transition process will still run smoothly and this will have a positive impact on investor orientation in deciding to realize their investments. .

Gadjah Mada University economist Eddy Junalsingh said the announcement of the winner of the presidential election ended political uncertainty in Indonesia. The resolution of domestic political problems will certainly affect investors' decisions. According to him, investors are still waiting for other indicators at the global level to take root in Indonesia. One of the indicators is the Fed's decision to make a final interest rate cut, which is expected to occur in the second half of this year.

So it's a political solution, not just an internal factor. That is definitely elected, Eddy said. "But with more certainty, a bigger flow will probably come again at the end of May," he said.
