DIGIVESTASI - SpaceX Introduces Starlink Mini: Portable Internet Device with 100 Mbps Speed. SpaceX has launched the Starlink Mini, a new innovation that allows users to access the internet from anywhere. Weighing just 1.1 kilograms, this device is lightweight and easily portable in a bag. The Starlink Mini is about 60 percent smaller than the standard Starlink dish.
The maximum speed achievable by the Starlink Mini is 100 Mbps. The device consumes an average power of only 20-40W, meaning it can operate for an hour with a 10,000mAh (40Wh) power bank. The Starlink Mini requires a PD USB-C power source with a minimum rating of 100W (20V/5A), as quoted from The Verge.
The Starlink Mini will be available to consumers starting in July. SpaceX CEO Elon Musk describes the Starlink Mini as an economical solution for backup internet connectivity when cable networks go down.
The device is priced at $599 or approximately IDR 9.85 million in the United States, which is $100 more expensive than the standard Starlink ground terminal for residential users.
The Starlink Mini service is available with monthly fees starting from $150 (IDR 2.4 million), which includes $120 for the residential subscription package and an additional $30 for the portable service called Mini Roam. Mini Roam subscribers can use the Starlink satellite service anywhere in the U.S. with a data cap of 50 GB per month.
Currently, the Starlink Mini can only be purchased together with the standard Starlink device. SpaceX plans to offer this device at a more affordable price in the future.
"Our goal is to reduce the price of Starlink worldwide, especially in areas with limited or no connectivity. However, in high-usage areas where the Starlink Mini is needed as a supplementary satellite network, we are offering the Starlink Mini in limited quantities," said SpaceX.
