DIGIVESTASI - Microsoft announced the latest version of Copilot. This artificial intelligence (AI) platform can perform a variety of tasks typically performed by employees in the finance sector. With the financial version of Copilot, you can perform variance analysis, reconcile data in Excel, and speed up the billing process through Outlook. The software can also retrieve information stored in SAP and Microsoft Dynamics 365.

Microsoft Vice President Charles Lamanna explains that every company is made up of employees with different skills. "We want all departments to be supported and enriched with Copilot," he says. Microsoft currently offers Copilot for general functionality within Office applications. Copilot can also be used by sales and customer service teams.

Financial functions will be available in Copilot in the near future. Microsoft has not yet announced the subscription price. Ramanna revealed that Japanese advertising agency Dentsu was one of the first companies to use Copilot for various financial operations.

Dentsu's finance department provided feedback to Microsoft, which was used to develop the financial version of Copilot. Cory Hrncirik, a Microsoft employee working in finance, says comparing data from different systems is one of the tasks that takes up most of the finance team's time. The financial planning and analysis team of more than 2,000 employees typically spends one to two hours reconciling financial data. With Copilot, financial reconciliation takes only 10-20 minutes per week.

According to Microsoft, AI helps employees with time-consuming and tedious tasks, freeing them up to do other work. Hrncirik even claims accounting and finance employees using Copilot's automation system can complete routine tasks to close the books faster. "This is one of the things we offer to CFOs," lamanna said.
