DIGIVESTASI - US Secretary of State Antony Blinken explains why his country is so diligent in blocking Chinese technology. He emphasized that the blockade is not meant to hinder the economic or technological development of America's competitors.

Blinken alluded to Huawei's recent launch of a new laptop. The Chinese giant has launched a device with powerful AI capabilities and uses American Intel chips. 

"We saw Huawei release a new laptop with AI capabilities and Intel chips," he explained as quoted by Reuters, Monday (April 29, 2024). He said this shows President Joe Biden's administration is focused on technologies that threaten US security. Do not hinder China's development. 

"I think this shows that we are focused on sensitive technologies that threaten our security," Blinken said. 
It is known that the United States is trying to block the use of its technology in Chinese products. Chip supplies to Huawei have been suspended. 

This regulation has partially reduced the sales of three companies in 2022: Nvidia, Advance Micro Devices, and Intel. Finally, Intel and Qualcomm obtained licenses to ship chips to Huawei. 

The licenses were issued during President Donald Trump's administration and are still valid. Meanwhile, AMD and MediaTek still do not have similar licenses.
