As the launch of the iPhone 17 series draws near, new leaks have surfaced regarding one of its models, the iPhone 17 Air. According to reports, Apple plans to equip the device with a 3,000 mAh battery. This decision was reportedly made in order to keep the device’s body ultra-thin.
This information comes from a known tipster on Weibo, who revealed that a 3,000 mAh capacity is the upper limit that still allows the iPhone 17 Air to maintain a slim profile. It appears that Apple has yet to implement silicon-carbon battery technology in this smartphone.
In terms of size, the iPhone 17 Air is rumored to feature dimensions similar to standard iPhone models. The phone will sport a 6.6-inch display with a 120Hz refresh rate, providing smooth performance for everything from general navigation to gaming.
Powering the iPhone 17 Air will be the A19 chipset, built on a 3 nm fabrication process. This powerful SoC will be paired with 12 GB of RAM. However, the combination of a high-refresh-rate display and a fast processor may lead to increased battery drain, especially considering the relatively modest battery size.
To address this potential issue, Apple is reportedly developing a new feature called Adaptive Power. This feature is designed to extend battery life by subtly reducing overall system performance. Adaptive Power will be capable of managing several functions such as dimming the screen, slowing down background tasks, and minimizing transition animation speeds.
All these efforts are intended to serve one primary goal: achieving an ultra-slim design. The iPhone 17 Air is rumored to be just 5.5 mm thick, which would make it the thinnest iPhone ever created.
Given all the leaked specifications and features, the question remains—will the iPhone 17 Air become a crowd favorite? We’ll have to wait until the official launch to find out.
