Grab Indonesia Responds to Holiday Bonus Initiative for Driver Partners

Grab Indonesia has responded to President Prabowo Subianto’s call for a holiday bonus for online motorcycle and taxi drivers. Grab confirmed that this bonus will be provided through a special performance bonus program as a token of appreciation for its driver-partners.

This program is designed to recognize the dedication and contributions of drivers during the Eid al-Fitr celebration. The bonus serves as additional support, considering that workers in the informal economy sector, including gig workers, generally do not receive routine benefits like formal employees.

Grab has structured this program based on the company’s current financial conditions. The eligibility for the bonus will be determined by the driver’s activity level, including the number of completed orders, order completion rate, number of active days and hours, and driver ratings.

"We are pleased to contribute to initiatives that directly benefit our Driver-Partners, who are the backbone of transportation and delivery services in Indonesia, and have continuously provided excellent service to customers," said Anthony Tan, Group CEO & Co-Founder of Grab, in a press statement on Monday (March 10, 2025).

As part of its commitment, Grab hopes that this special performance bonus program will serve as a reward for high-performing drivers who have shown dedication in delivering top-quality service.

"Traktir Driver" Program and Customer Appreciation Initiatives

In addition to the performance bonus, Grab has also introduced the "Traktir Driver" (Treat a Driver) program, which allows customers to show additional appreciation to drivers through participating restaurants and small businesses.

Through this program, customers can purchase special meal packages at a discounted price, which will then be given directly to driver-partners. Grab is also working with merchant partners to expand this program, ensuring more restaurant and SME options are available for customers who want to support drivers.

Furthermore, Grab is encouraging customers to give additional tips to driver-partners. All tips provided by customers will be fully received by the driver, with no deductions from Grab.

Ongoing Support for Driver-Partners

Moving forward, Grab will continue to introduce long-term programs to support driver-partners, including:

• Skills training to enhance driver competencies
• Financial support programs
• Partnerships with various institutions to provide additional benefits
• Development initiatives to help drivers increase their earnings in the long run
