DIGIVESTASI - President Prabowo Subianto Instructs Ministers to Use Locally Produced Official Vehicles, President Prabowo Subianto has instructed all ministers and echelon I officials in the Red and White Cabinet to use domestically produced official vehicles starting next week. Imported cars, such as the Toyota Alphard, will no longer be used. This directive was revealed by Deputy Finance Minister Anggito Abimanyu, who stated that starting next week, official vehicles will be replaced with those manufactured by PT Pindad.

"Next week, I will be using the Maung vehicle made by Pindad, as President Prabowo has emphasized that there will be no more use of imported cars for echelon I officials and ministers. This is extraordinary," said Anggito during the 15th Anniversary & 3rd Lustrum event of the Vocational School of Gadjah Mada University, which was broadcast virtually on Monday (October 28, 2024).

Anggito also mentioned that the vehicle made by PT Pindad consists of 70% local components. “Professor Sigit Santosa from ITB (Director of Technology and Development at Pindad) stated that this Indonesian-made car is designed with 70% of its materials sourced domestically,” he added.

Directive from the Presidential Palace
The Presidential Palace confirmed President Prabowo's directive regarding the use of the Maung vehicle produced by PT Pindad for the Red and White Cabinet. Head of the Presidential Communication Office, Hasan Nasbi, explained that the directive was given during the cabinet retreat at the Military Academy in Magelang, Central Java.

“President Prabowo instructed all ministers, deputy ministers, and agency heads to use Maung vehicles made by PT Pindad as their official cars,” Hasan told reporters on Monday (October 28, 2024).

Hasan also noted that Prabowo has already been using the Maung MV3 Garuda Limousine as his official vehicle, produced by Pindad, and expressed pride in the vehicle, particularly because 70% of its components are domestically sourced.

However, regarding reports that the Maung vehicles would begin to be used by the Red and White Cabinet next week, Hasan mentioned that further checks were still needed.

Ministerial Reactions
Agriculture Minister Amran Sulaiman found the directive intriguing and said he would check on it further. “That’s interesting, very interesting. I’ll check on it later,” he said at the Presidential Palace Complex.

Deputy Agriculture Minister Sudaryono admitted that he had not yet heard about the directive but was ready to comply if instructed. “If ordered, we will follow. That’s it,” he said firmly.

Sudaryono also expressed his willingness to purchase a Pindad-made vehicle due to its high quality. “If we’re ordered to use it, we will. If I need to buy it, I’ll buy a Pindad vehicle,” he stated confidently.

Orders for Pindad Vehicles
PT Pindad President Director Abraham Mose welcomed President Prabowo’s directive as a form of support for the domestic industry. Abraham explained that PT Pindad is awaiting the procurement process for official vehicles from each ministry.

“This is an extraordinary directive from President Prabowo Subianto, providing real support for the domestic industry by giving PT Pindad this opportunity,” said Abraham.

So far, PT Pindad has received orders for approximately 4,000 Maung MV3 units from the Ministry of Defense, with deliveries being made gradually. “Our contract with the Ministry of Defense is for around 4,000 units, and deliveries have already begun gradually,” Abraham explained.
