Jakarta Keeps Mikrotrans Free and Expands Free Transjakarta Access

Jakarta’s provincial government has not discussed changing Mikrotrans fares. Suharini Eliawati, the regional assistant for economic and financial affairs, said strong public demand is one consideration and described the service as especially close to residents.
For Transjakarta, the administration is still preparing fare-adjustment scenarios based on a Transportation Council study and input from stakeholders. For now, its priority is to expand free rides on Transjakarta and other modes from 15 to 21 eligible groups, including job seekers.
Suharini shared the update after an ITDP Indonesia public discussion in Dukuh Atas, Jakarta, on October 27, 2026. The provincial government has not announced a new Mikrotrans fare or details of the Transjakarta fare scenarios.
