DIGIVESTASI - COMFORT in the workplace has become an important factor for Generation Z and Millennials. Jessica Casey Jaya from Apiary Academy, an ecosystem that facilitates career and business growth, states that Human Resources (HR) in companies today cannot solely focus on employee performance but must also pay attention to their well-being.

"HR must design a workplace that is safe and comfortable from physical, emotional, and mental perspectives. Especially since our generation is different. Therefore, companies must consider all these aspects, not just one side," she said at the Future of Work Summit 2024 event in Kuningan City, South Jakarta, Thursday (27/6).

The Future of Work Summit 2024, organized by Apiary, focused on the human aspect of corporate success. In various panels available, topics were discussed according to the main theme, which was Building a Human-Centered Workforce for Sustainable Success.

"Since this is the first HR event, we wanted to provide a safe space for HR professionals to share the problems they face. It's more about gathering feedback," she added.

Moreover, the preference for comfort at work has also led to a shift in worker trends from the formal to the informal sector. Munadi Herlambang, Deputy Chair of Field IV of the Digital BUMN Forum (Fordigi), mentioned a shift of about 30% from formal to informal workers in the last two years.

"This shift from the formal to the informal sector is driven by Millennials and Gen Z. The main factors are comfort, time flexibility, and others," he said on the same occasion.

Munadi observes that many young workers are moving from formal companies to the informal sector due to more flexible workplaces and working hours.

"That's fine, but they must ensure their future and recurring income are safeguarded. Especially with social security such as BPJS Ketenagakerjaan and BPJS Kesehatan. When working in the informal sector, they must also receive the same protection as in the formal sector," he explained.
