IHSG Expected to Consolidate, Investors Advised to Stay Cautious

Phintraco Sekuritas predicts that the Jakarta Composite Index (IHSG) will consolidate on Thursday (March 6, 2025), urging investors to exercise caution in their investment decisions.

The IHSG is expected to fluctuate within a resistance level of 6,630, pivot at 6,550, and support at 6,500.

In its latest research, Phintraco Sekuritas recommends five stocks worth collecting, including UNTR.

IHSG Forms Bearish Pattern, Investors Advised Against Aggressive Buying

According to Phintraco Sekuritas, IHSG has formed a bearish sandwich pattern, despite its strengthening on Wednesday (March 5, 2025). Typically, this pattern appears at the end of a minor bullish phase or uptrend.

"Investors should avoid being too aggressive in accumulating purchases," Phintraco Sekuritas stated in its research on Thursday (March 6, 2025).

Phintraco Sekuritas also advised waiting for consolidation confirmation at the end of the strong bearish phase, with IHSG either staying above 6,300 or breaking above 6,600. At present, the most suitable strategy is trading buy or gradually entering the market.

"Investors should consider the potential for average buying, both above 6,600 and below 6,300 to 6,000 as a psychological level," Phintraco Sekuritas explained.

Big Cap Banking Stocks Show Potential for Rebound

Phintraco Sekuritas also highlighted that large-cap banking stocks still hold a chance for a minor bullish reversal, despite their volatile movement throughout the week.

The decision by JP Morgan to upgrade BBRI and BBNI’s ratings to overweight is expected to restore market confidence.

"Market rationalization is likely to expand into other sectors, especially among blue-chip stocks," Phintraco Sekuritas added.

On the external front, investors will closely monitor the European Central Bank (ECB) interest rate decision set to be announced later tonight (March 6, 2025).

For stock recommendations, Phintraco Sekuritas suggests five stocks worth collecting, namely UNTR, MAIN, NCKL, ASII, and ACES.
