Indonesia’s Composite Stock Price Index (IHSG) posted a significant gain on Thursday, March 6, 2025, closing 1.48% higher at 6,628.16. The rally was fueled by a rebound in banking and conglomerate stocks that had previously faced selling pressure.
According to Stocknow.id founder Hendra Wardana, IHSG's upward movement was supported by renewed investor interest in banking stocks following recent corrections. PT Bank Rakyat Indonesia Tbk (BBRI) surged 2.86% to 3,950, following a rating revision by JP Morgan.
Meanwhile, the technology sector also saw substantial gains, with PT DCI Indonesia Tbk (DCII) soaring 9.98% to 140,475, becoming a major contributor to the index’s rise.
Several stocks in the energy and natural resources sectors also ranked among the top gainers, including PT Barito Renewables Energy Tbk (BREN), PT Amman Mineral Internasional Tbk (AMMN), and PT Alamtri Resources Indonesia Tbk (ADRO).
"Beyond banking and technology, utilities rose 3.33%, property 2.73%, healthcare 2.44%, and basic materials 2.09%, reflecting increased investor interest in previously corrected stocks. Meanwhile, primary consumer goods was the only sector to decline, slipping 0.31%," Hendra told Investor Daily on Thursday (March 6, 2025).
IHSG’s strength was also influenced by domestic sentiment, particularly after President Prabowo Subianto met with Indonesia’s top business leaders at the State Palace.
"While the IHSG rally provides fresh optimism for investors, there remains a risk of profit-taking on Friday (March 7, 2025). Additionally, external factors could also impact market movements," Hendra noted.
President Prabowo Subianto welcomed eight prominent Indonesian businessmen to the Presidential Palace in Jakarta on Thursday (March 6, 2025). The meeting focused on key developments in Indonesia and global economic conditions.
According to an official Instagram post by @sekretariat.kabinet, the business leaders in attendance included Sugianto Kusuma (Aguan), Anthony Salim, Prajogo Pangestu, Boy Thohir, Franky Widjaja, Dato Sri Tahir, James Riady, and Tomy Winata.
A photo from the meeting showed Prabowo alongside State Secretary Prasetyo Hadi and Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya.
"The President discussed recent domestic and global developments, as well as key government programs," the @sekretariat.kabinet post stated.
Key topics on the agenda included the free nutritious meal program (MBG), infrastructure, textile industry, food and energy self-sufficiency, industrialization, and the Danantara Investment Management Agency.
"During the engaging discussion, President Prabowo expressed his appreciation for the business leaders' support of government policies and programs, particularly those aimed at public welfare," the @sekretariat.kabinet statement added.
