DIGIVESTASI - Data Affected by Ransomware at National Data Center Cannot Be Recovered. Data affected by the ransomware attack at the Temporary National Data Center (PDNS 2) cannot be recovered, prompting the relevant parties to explore alternative methods for restoring services. Herlan Wijanarko, Director of Network & IT Solution at Telkom Group, explained this during a press conference on Wednesday (26/6/2024).
"We are working hard to recover using the resources we have. The data affected by ransomware cannot be recovered, so we are utilizing the remaining resources," said Herlan.
His team identified tenants who had backups and found that 44 tenants had backups, placing their services in the first recovery phase.
Additionally, there are tenants without local backups, for whom a new environment is being prepared as a replacement for the locked PDNS 2. "We are implementing all security aspects with extensive assistance from BSSN, following procedures to make this more secure, and then we will deploy it in the new environment," Herlan explained.
The ransomware-affected PDNS 2 is located in Surabaya. Head of BSSN, Hinsa Siburian, confirmed that PDNS 2 has been disconnected from PDNS 1 and the co-storage in Batam. "We are ensuring that this ransomware does not spread to other systems," said Hinsa.
Hinsa added that the forensic team has managed to retrieve some of the affected data, which will be used for research to uncover the attack process. The next step is to conduct a forensic investigation in collaboration with the police.
"Of course, we will continue this investigation in cooperation with the police to determine the process, and the forensic results will be followed up," said Hinsa.
