Digivestasi - The electric vehicle industry in Indonesia is said to be growing. This was revealed by Coordinating Minister for the Economy Airlangga Hartarto at the Inbuyer Electric Vehicle (EV) EXPO 2023 event, Tuesday (November 28) yesterday. Airlangga said that this growth is sustainable because Indonesia is one of the world's largest producers of nickel, which is the raw material for electric vehicles.
"The development of electric vehicles in Indonesia is certainly important because investment continues to increase and sales of electric motorcycles are also increasing," he said. Airlangga explained that to further accelerate the development of electric vehicles, the government has provided incentives for electric vehicles.
Incentives for converted 2-wheeled vehicles will receive incentives worth Rp7 million. Electric cars will then enjoy VAT-DTP incentives. Next, electric buses with a minimum domestic component (TKDN) of 40% will receive a 10% VAT incentive.
The government also encourages the purchase of electric vehicles from various government agencies and organizations to develop the electric vehicle ecosystem.
Furthermore, it seeks to reduce carbon emissions to 358 million tons of CO2 by 2023. He concluded, "Currently the strength of the automotive industry in Indonesia is supported by 26 four-wheeled automotive industry companies that have a production capacity of more than 2 million and the industry absorbs 1.5 million core workers".
