The rupiah entered trading as the Federal Reserve kept its benchmark rate in a 3.75%–4% range. The U.S. central bank’s continued focus on inflation left markets reassessing the dollar and U.S. bond yields.
Global indicators moved in mixed directions
Bloomberg Technoz reported that the dollar index slipped 0.1% to 102.08 in the trading session discussed on October 29. At the same time, the 10-year U.S. Treasury yield rose about 2.5 basis points to 5.02%. The divergence shows that markets had not settled on a single direction after the Fed decision.
Oil prices also fell in that session. Brent declined 0.89% to US$114.29 a barrel, while WTI dropped 0.79% to US$101.97. Commodity moves form part of the external backdrop investors watch, but they do not determine exchange rates on their own.
What investors can monitor
For the rupiah, market attention includes U.S. inflation data, Fed communication, Treasury yields and domestic dollar demand. The rate hold meant no change at that meeting, but it did not remove uncertainty about when policy might shift.
The index and commodity figures reflect conditions at publication, not a guaranteed rupiah forecast. Investors should consider each indicator’s date and context and assess their own portfolio risk.
