DIGIVESTASI - Indonesia's Economy Remains Solid, Ready to Face 2025 Challenge. Indonesia's economy this year is predicted to remain stable amidst global challenges. The nation is believed to be well-prepared to face the dynamic and uncertain conditions of 2025.

The Chief Investment Officer of Insight Investments Management, Camar Remoa, highlighted several key points regarding the economic outlook for 2025. In his statement on Monday, January 20, 2025, he mentioned that domestic consumption is expected to remain steady, supported by various government stimuli, such as wage increases and priority programs.

"These government stimuli play a crucial role in strengthening the national economy, further supported by the growth of domestic investments. These investments are projected to gain momentum this year," said Camar. He also emphasized opportunities for Indonesia, particularly in benefiting from the potential shift of production bases from China due to tariff policies imposed by the United States.

However, Camar cautioned about certain risks that need to be closely monitored. One notable risk is the uncertainty surrounding U.S. policies under what is being dubbed as "Trump 2.0," which could heighten market volatility. Additionally, global trade wars and tariff retaliations are expected to contribute to rising global inflation.

Camar also addressed the decline in energy commodity prices, such as crude oil and coal. According to him, this could reduce the country's revenue from the commodity sector. "Nevertheless, the reduction in crude oil imports could have a positive impact by strengthening the rupiah and reducing energy subsidies," he explained.

Furthermore, Camar outlined three main focuses for Insight Investments Management in preparing for this year’s economic challenges. These focuses include the potential issuance of government securities (SBN), demand for SBN, and strategies and valuations.

He explained that the issuance of SBN this year will remain well-managed through strategic measures, while support from domestic investors in the bond market will help maintain stability. "Our strategy combines short-term and long-term bonds, with a focus on high-quality corporate bonds offering attractive returns. We also diversify across sectors to mitigate credit risks while seeking capital gains from government bonds to maintain liquidity," he emphasized.

With this combination of efforts, Camar remains optimistic that Indonesia's economy can successfully navigate the challenges and uncertainties that may arise in 2025.
