DIGIVESTASI - President Joko Widodo of the Republic of Indonesia received letters of credence from 10 Ambassadors Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary (LBBP) at the Merdeka Palace, Jakarta, Friday (August 12, 2023).
The ten ambassadors are from Denmark, Cambodia, Kazakhstan, Rwanda, Pakistan, Chile, Laos, Canada, Jordan, and Angola. In a statement after the certificate ceremony, Foreign Minister Retno Marsudi said that cooperation with the 10 countries would focus on the economic sector.
"The focus of bilateral relations with these 10 countries is mainly on economic cooperation," said the Foreign Minister. Mr. Retno also explained that Indonesia's trade trend with 10 friendly countries is increasing from year to year. Separately, Indonesia recorded a trade surplus with six of the 10 friendly countries.
The Foreign Minister also said that Pakistan's largest trade and investment volume after Indonesia is with Jordan. "Among the 10 countries, the largest trade volume is with Pakistan, which amounted to more than $4.5 billion last year," the foreign minister said.
Furthermore, Retno said that Indonesia is currently negotiating an investment agreement with Kazakhstan. The Foreign Minister also noted an increase in Indonesian investment in Cambodia, Jordan and Angola. The Foreign Minister said that in addition to economic cooperation, there would also be cooperation on several other issues, such as the protection of the Indonesian people, industrial cooperation, and energy transition.
For example, Indonesia is working with Laos and Cambodia to combat online fraud.
``We will continue to cooperate in the field of strategic industries, especially with Pakistan and Cambodia.'' ``We are currently working with Denmark on energy transition,'' the foreign minister emphasized.
